Who We Are

We are a trauma-focused group practice offering thoughtful, depth-oriented care. Our work is grounded in curiosity, mindfulness, and respect for each person’s pace of change.  The Breath Between reflects the small but meaningful pauses where change becomes possible—the moment between trigger and response, between past and present. Therapy helps expand that space, allowing for greater awareness, regulation, and more flexible ways of responding over time.

Headshot of a professional psychotherapist

Meet Your New Therapist: Dawn Sanchez

My name is Dawn Sánchez (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of The Breath Between Psychotherapy. I have been practicing for over a decade and hold a degree from Adelphi University School of Social Work.

My approach integrates EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic therapy, attachment-based work, and mindfulness to provide specialized trauma therapy for adults seeking meaningful and lasting change.

My work is intentionally slow-paced and collaborative, designed for those who value curiosity, patience, and meaningful change over quick fixes. Together, we focus on healing the deeper roots of distress, restoring safety in the body, and helping you build a more secure relationship with yourself.

  • "We cannot think our way into safety; we must experience it.”

     — Deb Dana

  • "Accepting dysfunction in adulthood because of what parents did (or missed doing) to the child is continuing to give them the power. At some point, the adult needs to retake it and become responsible for their own well-being."

    — Antonieta Contreras

  • “The body knows how to heal itself. It just needs the right conditions.”

    — Ron Kurtz
